Temporary Doesn’t Mean Fragile: Rethinking Emergency Shelter Design
05 Nov 2025
In disaster response, “temporary” shelters are often assumed to be short-lived or inadequate. Yet communities frequently rely on them for weeks or months. This session explores how emergency shelters can be both rapidly deployable and resilient, balancing speed, safety, and dignity. Drawing on previous on-site examples, the talk will share lessons learned from real deployments and provide practical insights into durability, adaptability, and design principles for recovery.
