Jim Redick, Director of Austin Emergency Management, is a 17-year Certified Emergency Manager, a military veteran, published author, and a college instructor. He has earned numerous awards, including the IAEM's 2016 Clayton R. Christopher Memorial Award in recognition of "unselfish devotion and outstanding contributions to the field of emergency management" and the Virginia Emergency Management Association's 2017 Stanley Everette Crigger Humanitarian Achievement Award. Additionally, Jim received an Administrator Appointment to FEMAs Nation Advisory Council in 2022.
Jim graduated from Regent University, Old Dominion University, where he just entered his 11th year teaching the Emergency Management and Policy graduate-level course. He is also a graduate of FEMA’s Executive Academy and the Naval Post Graduate School’s Center of Homeland Defense and Security Executive Leadership Program.
