About Miguel Calderon
Miguel Calderon is an accomplished Public Servant with over 20-years of service withing the public safety sectors. His divers background in rapid emergency responses and operations have earned him several awards and professional accomplishments in his various roles and agencies.
Miguel started his public service with the US Coast Guard where he served for approximately 13-years. His Coast Guard missions include response and rescue missions to Hurricane’s Ivan, Katrina, Rita, Wilma, Ida, and Super Storm Sandy. As a member of the Coast Guard’s Deployable Specialized Forces (DSF) where he was attached to various Counterterrorism and Counter-drug units throughout the U.S.
After military service, Miguel became a police officer for the Gila River Police Department in Arizona, where he excelled in Patrol Operations and Tactics, Criminal analysis, and intelligence. He was later promoted to the Criminal Investigative Bureau, where he was assigned as a Domestic Violence Detective. His time as an LEO led him to become a law enforcement instructor for the Air Force Security Forces where he taught both military and civilian law enforcement personnel.
Currently, Miguel Calderon works for FEMA Region 9 under the National Preparedness Division as an Operational Data Specialist for the Data Analytics Branch. He has worked in various capacities within Emergency Management and Public Safety throughout the US. He has a master’s degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from ASU and is currently pursuing his CEM.
